Commonly purchased government agency securities are issued by the 1. Federal National Mortgage Association; 2. Federal Home Loan Bank; 3. Federal Farm Credit Bank; 4. Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation and 5. Student Loan Marketing Association.  These securities may be purchased with short or long maturities and can also be used in the liquidity portfolio if the stated maturity is five years or less.
